The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon “Run To The Lowest Point On Earth” Under the patronage of HRH Prince Raad Bin Zeid the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon (DSUM) has witnessed 19 years of rising national and international recognition. The DSUM is held every April from Amman to the Dead Sea and is the main fund raising event for the Neurological Society, which is funded by donations from individuals, public and private companies, annual membership fees, as well as proceeds of sporting events. The DSUM has had a successful record of accomplishments since it was first launched with several world record runners and champions participating in the event. In 2010, the DSUM broke all records as it marked a turning point in the future of the event as a national and international athletic, touristic and charitable event with the continuous support of Jordanian organizations and more than 5500 runners representing 52 nationalities. In 2012, the DSUM solidified its position as a world renowned athletic, touristic and charitable, attracting over 7000 runners from 64 countries across the globe. The 20th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon will take place on April 5th 2013, more than 8500 participants are expected to participate. Marathon Village at King HUSSEIN Park from the 28/3/2013 until 4/4/2013. · Last day for registration will be on Thursday 4th April 2013 till 2pm. Celebration Area: · Runners will receive their race medal at the finish line. · The Celebration area will be at the Amman Tourist Beach, located 2km further from the hotel zone/Dead Sea. Full access to all facilities, including the beach and shaded areas, children, toilets, showers, changing rooms and restaurants. · Food and refreshments are available for reasonable prices at the Finish Line (Amman Tourist Beach). Useful Information: · The route will be marked every 1km. · Water stations will also be located every 3km along the route. · All runners must attach his/her bib number with pins given on the T-shirt before entering the busses. · First aid and ambulances are available along the route and the finish line. · All runners can leave their bags in the luggage buses at the respective starts points. These should be labeled with the number given in your package; which can be picked up from the luggage booth located at the finish point at Amman Tourist Beach. Kindly note that the Neurological Society bears no responsibility for bags lost or valued items it contains no responsibility towards any bag lost or lost bag without number also are not responsible of any valued items inside the bag). · Runners who are unable to complete the race and need to be transported to the finish line are kindly asked to wait for the sweep bus to pick them up. · For runners who can’t stay after the run, buses will start leaving the finish area at 10:30am till 12:00pm, and from 1:30pm till 3:00pm heading back to gathering point . · Toilets are available at the start points of the Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Fun Run, and at the finish area. · Runners must follow instruction given by the organizers on how to attach the bib number on the chest. · Runners must show their transportation ticket upon entering the bus both on the way there, and back. Runners of 50km and 42km must finish before 2:00pm since all roads will reopened after that. Collecting goody bags · Runners numbers and goody bags can be collected only from the Marathon Village everyday starting from March 28th until April 3rdfrom 12:00pm to 9:00pm.
